Fawkner has not been seen at the races since running on for a credible tenth in the Melbourne Cup (3200m) last spring, and will need plenty of luck in the 2015 Memsie Stakes after drawing the wide and awkward barrier 18.

Winner of the 2013 Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), Fawkner returned last spring for a close second in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m); progressing to success in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) before running a close second to Adelaide in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m).

Confirmed to be partnered by Steve Arnold, Fawkner will carry 59kgs in the 2015 Memsie Stakes.

Darren Weir will field a strong hand in the 2015 Memsie Stakes after having Dandino and Prince Of Penzance confirmed in the final field, and quality runner Stratum Star confirmed as first emergency.

Stamping his claims as one to watch through the 2013 Spring Carnival, Dandino charged home for a close second behind Fawkner in the Caulfield Cup before progressing to fifth in the Melbourne Cup.

A noted stayer, Prince Of Penzance will undoubtedly use the 2015 Memsie Stakes as the first point of call in a campaign geared towards the Melbourne Cup.

Undoubtedly Weir’s best chance of success should he gain a start, Stratum Star more than stamped his claim as one to watch through the recent Autumn Carnival; running second in a Sandown minor before placing third in each of the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) most notably.

Chris Waller is also have two good chances for success in the 2015 Memsie Stakes after confirming Boban and Weary in the final field.

A four-time Group 1 champion, Boban returned to top form through the recent Brisbane Winter Carnival; winning the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) and finishing a close second in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m).

Yet to break through for a win at the highest level, consistent performer Weary returned this time for a close second in the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) on August 8th and will have taken plenty of benefit from the competitive hit-out.

Sertorius is a proven first-up performer, as well as over the track and distance and has been confirmed in the capacity 2015 Memsie Stakes field.

Posting ten wins and a further fourteen minors through 37 competitive starts so far, the Galileo gelding returned in spring for a close second in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) before taking out the Group 3 Easter Cup (2000m).

Hi World will leave from the rails draw in the 2015 Memsie Stakes while Setinum has been charged with overcoming the outside gate.
