McAuliffe Eyeing 2015 Memsie Stakes With Fuchsia Bandana

July 13th, 2015

Trainer Darren McAuliffe has been understandably thrilled with the results posted by Fuchsia Bandana through an impressive racing career so far, and has revealed the talented mare is a chance to travel to Melbourne for early races during the 2015 Spring Carnival, including the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) on August 29th.

Fuchsia Bandana has finished outside the first three only a handful of times through her 20 start career so far; posting an impressive nine wins and a seven minors, including three victories at Group level.

Confident his stable star is more than capable of competing with the best in her native Perth, McAuliffe believes the key to success in Melbourne for the rising five-year-old lies in early targets when her top-line competition is not yet fully wound-up.

“We might look at the early spring in Melbourne before the good horses are fully wound up,” McAuliffe told Perth Racing.

“She is in the best condition she has ever been in, she is in fantastic nick and there is no need to spell her.”

Fuchsia Bandana failed to make much of a competitive impact upon debuting to racing in September 2013, but stamped her claims as one to watch from her second preparation in which she finishing outside the first three only once in ten starts; highlighted by six wins.

Running a close second to Modello in the Listed Birthday Stakes (1200m) upon resuming in 2014, the daughter of Trade Fair broke through for a maiden black type win in the Group 3 Northerly Stakes (1400m) on October 18th before again finishing a close second in the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes (1400m) on November 8th.

Returning to the paddock after placing fifth in each of the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), Fuchsia Bandana is again yet to finish outside the first three in four black type starts this time and is eyeing a maiden career hat-trick after taking out the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) and Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) in her two most recent starts.
