Securing two impressive victories at the highest level of Australian racing through the 2014 Autumn Carnival, trainer Peter Moody has revealed rising six-year-old Moment Of Change is likely to return to racing in the featured Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield Racecourse on August 30th.

A standout performer over his entire preparation spanning the length of the 2013 spring and half the 2014 autumn, Moment Of Change returned to the spelling paddock following an unsuccessful tilt at the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on March 8th; recently returning to work at Moody’s Caulfield stables.

In-line for another long and busy preparation, Moody told RVN the Barely A Moment gelding’s form through his most recent campaign means a first-up tilt at the Group 1 Memsie Stakes is more than warranted.

“There’s every chance I’ll run him in the Memsie Stakes first up,” Moody said.

“I don’t know if I want to want to give him a lead up run, he might just have a couple of jump-outs.

“He’s done about seven weeks work and he seems in good shape.”

Contesting an impressive race record of seven wins and nine minor places from just 22 competitive starts, Moment Of Change has been a notable performer over each campaign since first appearing on course in the spring of 2011.

Breaking through for a maiden Group 1 victory when strolling home to claim the 2012 edition of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m), Moment Of Change undoubtedly hit career best form over his most recent campaign; finishing second in the Group 2 McEwan Stakes (1000m) first-up, fourth in both the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m), third in the Group 1 VRC Sprint Classic (1200m) and second to Buffering in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in Perth.

Returning to the east coast, the gelding out of Europium claimed scintillating victories in both the Group 1 C.F Orr Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) to stamp his claims as a leading contender for major events over the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.
